Apple iphone 13 pro max release date is coming this year, and now we’re learning a lot about Apple’s next iPhone because of a lot of leaks and rumours. Don’t expect the iPhone 13 range until September 2021 at the earliest, but we’re now getting a good picture of what each new handset will bring.

We are expecting a new iPhone 13, iPhone 13 Mini, iPhone 13 Pro and iPhone 13 Pro Max. Leaks and rumors keep going on, revealing everything from a possible Apple iphone 13 pro max release date to a possible design, expected specs, and some exciting new features.

These include things like upgraded cameras, 120Hz refresh rate screen, 1TB of storage, brand new colors and a more powerful chipset. It looks like these phones will mirror the design of the iPhone 12, and there is also a chance that we could launch the phone under the iPhone 12S name instead of the iPhone 13 moniker.

Want the full picture of the iPhone 13 leak so far? You’ll find it below where we walk you through each element of the upcoming phone. Hopefully this article will be continually updated with all the latest Apple iphone 13 pro max release date news ahead of the big reveal later this year.

iPhone 13: cut to the chase

  • What is the iPhone 13? Apple’s next iPhone, perhaps iPhone 12S
  • When is the iPhone 13 out? Most likely September 2021
  • What will the iPhone 13 cost? Expect $699 / £699 / AU$1,199 or more

Apple iphone 13 pro max release date

The Apple iphone 13 pro max release date is likely to be September 2021, and we expect it to hit stores on the third or fourth Friday of the month (which makes it September 17th or 24th).

Before 2020, Apple often announces its new iPhones on the first or second Tuesday in September. If this happens again in 2021, we’d expect the Apple iphone 13 pro max release date range to come out on September 7 or 14.

September 7 may seem like the beginning of the month for Apple to reveal its new iPhone, but the company used that date to reveal both the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus in 2016.

The iPhone 13 Pro max
The iPhone 13 Pro max

However, there is no guarantee that this will be the release date of the Apple iphone 13 pro max release date, and that is mainly due to the Covid-19 pandemic. The iPhone 12 and iPhone 12 Pro were delayed until October 2020, and the other two devices, the iPhone 12 mini and iPhone 12 Pro Max, were released in November of that year.

Also, the 2020 delay apparently resulted in increased sales of the phones. That may mean that Apple decides to keep this new window, but there is no real indication of that.

In fact, other rumors suggest that the iPhone 13 range appears to be on its way to launch in September. In June, for example, we saw what appear to be model numbers for the iPhone 13 range listed in a database from the Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC). These listings always occur before launch and usually within a few months of launch.

iPhone 13 price

Little is known about the price of the iPhone 13, but we would expect it to be at a similar level as the iPhone 12 family. Those phones cost more than the 2019 phones, the iPhone 11 series, but that is due to the addition of 5G and some other technical elements.

We’ll be sure to include more leaks and iPhone 2021 price rumors as we hear about them, but below you can see the prices of the iPhone 12 series that we are relatively sure will be similar on the Apple iphone 13 pro max release date.

If anything, although prices could rise slightly this year, especially outside of the US, with rumors that much of the world will get the mmWave 5G technology that the US iPhone 12 already support, which will increase. the price in the process. But we wouldn’t expect a big change.

iPhone 13 leaks and what we know so far

First, we expect four members of the Apple iphone 13 pro max family. They will probably be, but not guaranteed, the iPhone 13 mini, iPhone 13, iPhone 13 Pro and Apple iPhone 13 Pro Max.

The company focused on three models until 2020, when it introduced the Mini model as the fourth phone in the iPhone 12 family. Most of the rumors suggest that this will continue in 2021.

If any model drops, it’s probably the Mini, as the iPhone 12 Mini reportedly hasn’t sold well, but rumors suggest that Apple will continue to make the iPhone 13 Mini (though perhaps the iPhone SE 3 instead).

The following is our best image of the specs we’ve expected for each model so far. Note that everything here is based on leaked information, and there’s no guarantee we’ll see something similar from Apple when the phones are introduced.

iPhone 13 design

We expect a similar design to the iPhone 12 family in the iPhone 13 range, but a recent rumor suggests that Apple will manage to reduce the impact of the camera this year, as well as a matte black option for the Pro model of the phone. . , reworked from the current graphite.

The notch may change as well, with some sources claiming that it will remain the same size as the iPhone 12, but many others believe that it is more likely to shrink.

In fact, many more sources point to its reduction than remaining the same size, so there is likely a smaller notch, and one source says that the Face ID sensor has apparently been reduced as well, which will allow for a small notch. .

We have now also seen some leaked photos that supposedly show the display glass for the iPhone 13 range and a small notch, which is achieved by moving the earpiece to the top bezel.

Similarly, a 3D printed iPhone 13 mockup also shows a smaller notch. Specifically, the notch here is 26.8mm wide (compared to 34.83mm on the iPhone 12), but it’s 5.35mm deep as well, making it stick out a bit more than the 5.3mm. mm of the iPhone 12.

The mockup also shows that the content of the notch may have moved a bit, with the selfie camera displayed on the left rather than the right, and the earpiece moved towards the bezel.

The smaller notch can once again be seen in some unofficial renders, which also highlight a slightly different camera layout but an otherwise similar design to the iPhone 12 range.

An Apple iPhone 13 Pro Max dummy unit – created based on leaked schematics and other leaks – also shows a smaller notch, as well as larger camera lenses (more on which further down).

However, the design and even the size is otherwise more or less the same as the iPhone 12 Pro Max.

A dummy unit that may show the iPhone 13 Pro Max design
A dummy unit that may show the iPhone 13 Pro Max design

We have seen a very similar design in unofficial versions of the Apple iphone 13 pro max, supposedly based on a “finalized version” of the phone.

These include a larger, flatter camera bump than on the iPhone 12 Pro, plus larger camera sensors, a smaller notch, and a seemingly less fingerprint-prone stainless steel frame.

The leaked CAD files also show a smaller notch, in addition to a diagonal camera design for the iPhone 13. They also appear to show a slightly thicker build, probably to accommodate the larger batteries that were rumored.

Another leak also suggested that the company might finally be ready to introduce an under-display fingerprint scanner. Many Android makers include this technology in flagship phones, and this leak suggests that Apple is ready to do the same. In fact, we’ve now heard of an in-screen scanner multiple times at this point, and apparently Apple is considering it in addition to Face ID.

Some sources suggest this change is further afield, but an iOS 15 leak suggests that the company’s next major software update will come with support for dual biometric authentication, a feature that would only be possible to implement on a device with Face ID and Touch. ID. Still, we wouldn’t count on this.

One thing that probably won’t change is the sizes of the phones, with leaks suggesting we will see four models, with the same screen sizes as the iPhone 12 range.

That said, dimensions may vary slightly, with one report suggesting that the iPhone 13 and iPhone 13 Pro will be 7.57mm thick, making them 0.17mm thicker than their predecessors.

An example of camera bumps on the iPhone 13 Pro and iPhone 13
An example of camera bumps on the iPhone 13 Pro and iPhone 13 (Apple iphone 13 pro max release date)

The same report suggests the camera blocks will stick out much further, with the iPhone 13 Pro’s apparently sticking out by 3.65mm (compared to 1.7mm on the iPhone 12 Pro), and the iPhone 13’s by 2.51mm (compared to 1.5mm on the iPhone 12). You can see how that difference might look in the image above.

iPhone 13 colors

Now we’ve heard multiple times that the iPhone 13 Pro and iPhone 13 Pro Max may come in a matte black shade. Apparently this will be a reworked version of the graphite iPhone 12 Pro, but much darker.

Other rumored iPhone 13 colors include rose pink, purple, and orange, though these all sound less likely so far as the first two come from a source without much of a track record, and the orange apparently probably hasn’t made it past the stage of prototype.

Overall, we expect a similar ringtone set to the iPhone 12.

That means you’ll likely see more color options with some brighter shades on the iPhone 13 and iPhone 13 mini, while the iPhone 13 Pro and iPhone 13 Pro Max are more likely to have fewer options with quieter shades like silver, graphite and gold.

iPhone 13 display

One thing that was widely rumored about the iPhone 12 that fell through was the addition of a 120Hz refresh rate display. Rumors suggest that it can be crawled into the iPhone 13, and that will make the screen look smoother when gaming or scrolling on social media.

That technology can also work in a similar way to what we’ve seen in the company’s iPad Pro range, where you can vary the refresh rate based on the activity you’re doing on your phone.

Multiple rumors have suggested that the 120Hz refresh rate feature may be coming in, and that includes reports from DigiTimes, as well as well-placed analysts who have suggested that this technology could only be in two of the four anticipated iPhone 13 models.

Korean site The Elec added that industry sources say the top two models will get a 120Hz display, so this may be a feature of the Pro model in 2021. That site has now added more details as well, stating that Samsung will be the sole provider of these. 120Hz panels.

In fact, there is a possibility that it has a refresh rate even higher than 120Hz, as an Apple patent talks about a phone with multiple refresh rates, possibly exceeding 240Hz, which is a frequency that no conventional phone currently offers. But patents often don’t turn into features, so we’d take this with a pinch of salt.

Another upgrade the display could get is the addition of an always-on display, with a reliable filter saying this could be in the works. Android phones have offered this for years, so it’s about time Apple joined in.

What sizes should you expect for the iPhone 13 family? The same as last year’s models, according to rumors, that is, a 5.4-inch iPhone 13 mini, a 6.1-inch iPhone 13 and iPhone 13 Pro, and a 6.7-inch iPhone 13 Pro Max.

iPhone 13 camera

As for the camera, industry analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, who is often right about Apple’s information, has suggested that the ultra-wide camera on the iPhone 13 Pro and Pro Max can pass at f / 1.8, six-lens elements of the current f / 2.4, five element lens in the iPhone 12 Pro and Pro Max.

We’ve also heard the same change in aperture from Barclays analysts, though they claim this update will hit all four iPhone 13 models. This should allow for better low-light performance, but potentially a shallower depth of field as well, which may be less desirable in landscape shots where ultra-wide cameras tend to excel.

The Barclays analyst’s note also mentioned that the iPhone 13 Pro could get the same telephoto snapper as the iPhone 12 Pro Max, allowing for 2.5x optical zoom, up from 2x on its predecessor.

The iPhone 12 Pro Max's camera
The iPhone 12 Pro Max’s camera

Meanwhile, Kuo has said that the telephoto camera will get a similar six-element upgrade to the ultra-wide, at least on the “high-end” models.

As for the main camera, Kuo also has news about it, stating that on the iPhone 13 Pro Max it will be switched to an aperture of f / 1.5 (from f / 1.6 on current models). This should improve low-light performance and bokeh for portraits, but it’s a change that apparently won’t make it to the rest of the iPhone 13 range.

A report has also suggested that all four iPhone 13 models could have a LiDAR scanner, rather than just the Pro models having it as in the iPhone 12 range. Since then, the same site has reiterated that claim more than once. , as does another source, so it seems likely.

The same source has also said that all four iPhone 13 models will get OIS (Optical Image Stabilization) with sensor swapping, which would be an upgrade for everyone but the Pro Max, which already has it, and that the two Pro models will get a larger main lens. Another rumor also suggests that auto focus and sensor shift OIS will be added to the ultra-wide cameras on the new phones, but potentially only on the iPhone 13 Pro and Pro Max models.

Elsewhere, sources have claimed that Apple is ordering far more moving coil motors (VCMs) than normal. Apparently this is for improvements to both the rear cameras (probably the addition of sensor change, which uses a VCM) and improvements to the 3D sensors for Face ID.

We’ve also heard rumors about possible redesigns of the two rear cameras on the iPhone 13 and iPhone 13 mini: instead of being vertically aligned, they can be arranged diagonally.

A purported photo (above) of a mini iPhone 13 prototype was uploaded to Weibo showing what the final phone would look like, and those redesigned cameras. You can also see the new camera design in some of the leaks above.

Finally, there are reports that Apple is considering adding a periscope camera to a future iPhone. This would allow for a greater zoom range than current models, perhaps up to 10x optical zoom, potentially without making the camera components thicker. However, according to rumors, this might not reach until the iPhone 14 or even a later device. Kuo says that he doesn’t expect it until 2023.

iPhone 13 software

A variety of the iOS 15 upgrades you can expect
A variety of the iOS 15 upgrades you can expect

One thing we already know quite a bit about is the iPhone 13 software, as it will surely run iOS 15, and while the next-gen software is not yet available, Apple has announced it.

IOS 15 highlights include several FaceTime enhancements, such as the ability to join calls via a web link that even Android users can access, plus spatial audio and voice isolation.

Meanwhile, messages get statuses, a live text feature will let you translate text into images or copy it into a document, the weather app has been redesigned, Maps is getting new details for business districts and buildings, and more.

iPhone 13 battery

As for the battery, we have heard from analyst Ming-Chi Kuo that the iPhone 13 could switch to soft plate technology, which could allow physically smaller batteries without reducing capacity.

In fact, Kuo has since said that the iPhone 13 could have a higher capacity battery than the iPhone 12. Kuo has repeated that claim once again saying that Apple is experimenting with a “space-saving design” so it seems sure this is an improvement. We will see later in the year.

A leak of Digital Chat Station on Weibo claims something similar, and it also provides us with potential battery capacities. If the leak is correct, we may see the following on each of the models (in addition, we have also included the sizes of the equivalent 2020 models).

iPhone 13 leaked battery capacities

ModelSizeLast-gen size
iPhone 13 mini2,406mAh2,277mAh
iPhone 133,095mAh2,805mAh
iPhone 13 Pro3,095mAh2,805mAh
iPhone 13 Pro Max4,325mAh3,687mAh

There’s also an Apple patent that talks about a ‘protective charging’ mode, which would stop you overcharging the phone even if you leave it plugged in for long periods (such as overnight). However, patents don’t always get used, so don’t count on this.

iPhone 13 specs and performance

One source (leaker Jon Prosser) has also suggested that 2021 may be when we see the introduction of 1TB iPhones. That’s a storage size the company hasn’t experimented with yet, at least for its smartphones, and we’d expect it to be an option on the most expensive Pro handsets.

If Prosser’s information is correct, it may be the most expensive iPhone ever, as it is a lot of storage on a phone. This type of option would be more useful for professionals than average users, but for now it’s just a prototype that Apple is apparently testing.

There have also been rumors that a portless iPhone will debut in 2021. It’s a claim we’ve heard from various sources, but most suggest that only one model (most likely the iPhone 13 Pro Max) has no port. Apparently Apple is also trying to figure out how a portless iPhone could be reset.

Performance should improve as it normally does every year, but we’ve heard of advanced vapor chamber cooling being implemented on the iPhone 13, although if it’s not ready this year, we may have to wait until the iPhone 14. for Look at it.

We’ve also heard that the A15 chipset that is expected to power the iPhone 13 range has entered mass production. The source for a report on that topic also says that it is a 5nm chipset, which is the same size as the A14, which possibly means that the improvements here will not be massive.

Another source has now also said that the iPhone 13 range will have a 5nm chipset, and 3nm is expected for the iPhone 14.

Other iPhone 13 leaks

5G support is expected to continue on iPhones from 2021, of course, but one source suggests that mmWave models will be more available than with the iPhone 12 range (which only got mmWave in the US), both in the UK. United as in Australia (among others). places) potentially getting them.

Since then, we’ve heard this again, with over 50% of the world’s iPhone 13 models reportedly receiving mmWave support. This is potentially much faster than the 5G sub-6GHz that iPhone 12s are stuck with in most parts of the world, but it also requires the right infrastructure and spectrum to be available, which is not yet available in most of the world. the places.

Sticking with wireless technologies, we have also been made to understand that the iPhone 13 will come with some Wi-Fi 6E connectivity for an even faster link to the web and cloud.

This was first predicted by analysts and since then they have said the same thing with more certainty, even naming the purported providers of Wi-Fi 6E technology.

Finally, an Apple patent details a system that allows an iPhone to track your gaze, so you can see which part of a document you are reading and hide the other parts, swapping or rearranging the letters into words.

This would mean that you could read confidential documents in public places without much risk of snoopers. However, we are not convinced this will make it to the iPhone 13.

Chances are high that the next iPhone won’t be called iPhone 13, and there are a few reasons for that.

For one thing, reports so far suggest that this next model could be a relatively modest upgrade, with a similar design and only slight camera improvements. In fact, the only big change could be the rumored switch to a 120Hz display, and not all models are likely to make it.

  • iphone 13 pro max price in uk

With that in mind, Apple could call these phones the iPhone 12s and iPhone 12s Pro range. While we haven’t seen use of the ‘S’ in recent years, it’s something that Apple has a history of using to mark more updates. minors.

Not only that, but the number 13 could be a problem as it is seen as an unfortunate number in many parts of the world, including the US, so it may be that Apple wants to skip this number when it comes time to buy a new iPhone. .

Of course, calling this year’s phones the iPhone 12s range does not solve the problem of the number 13, it only delays it, so this year or next it is possible that Apple will go from the 13 directly to the iPhone 14 range.

iPhone 13: what we want to see

We don’t know much about Apple’s iPhone 13, so we’ve put together a list of things we’d love for the company to introduce for its next-gen device. Some of these will match what you’ve read above, and others are just things we want Apple to do.

1. A big camera upgrade

The iPhone 12 Pro Max camera
The iPhone 12 Pro Max camera

The iPhone 12 series brought some slight adjustments to the camera to the family of phones, but it wasn’t a significant overhaul that many expected.

Expect to see an improved camera in 2021, and we’re hoping for a big one that may mean the company can stand its ground in making some of the best shooters on the market.

Sadly, based on leaks available at the time of writing, we’re not expecting anything too big on the front of the camera; It looks like we’ll be waiting until 2022 for that.

2. Longer battery life

The iPhone 12 range doesn’t have much better battery life than the iPhone 11 series, so we’d like Apple to focus more on battery life in the future.

Nowhere is this more true than on the iPhone 12 mini, which has the worst battery life of the entire family. It’s okay to tackle it on a day-to-day basis, but we’d like to see Apple commit to making battery life even better.

3. An iPhone 13 mini

The iPhone 12 mini
The iPhone 12 mini

This may seem like an obvious one, but we really like the iPhone 12 mini and we’d like to see it become a mainstay of the iPhone family.

Smaller handsets that are as capable as the flagship alternative are few and far between in 2020, so we’d like to see the company commit to this new size of handset again for the iPhone 13.

At the time of writing this is looking likely – though possibly at the expense of an iPhone SE 3.

4. A price drop

This is unlikely to be possible for the iPhone 13, but with the price of the iPhone 12 series increasing over the iPhone 11, we would like the company to lower its prices again in 2021.

With a rumor suggesting that the company will only use 5G technology relevant to whatever market it lives in, that may allow Apple to drop the price lower than it has before.

5. The death of 64GB iPhones

The iPhone 12 Pro started at 128GB
The iPhone 12 Pro started at 128GB

The iPhone 12 mini and iPhone 12 are available with 64GB of storage, and we think there is not enough space on a smartphone in 2021. Some will be able to handle that, but if you want to get the most out of your device, you will probably find that it will clog afterwards. of some years of use.

We’d like to see Apple introduce 128GB as the minimum device size in the next model and hopefully lower the price of the larger storage variants to a more affordable level.

6. A high refresh rate display

Rumor has it that for the iPhone 12, a high refresh rate screen will be another solid screen upgrade that we would love to see included on the iPhone to keep it competitive with other smartphones on the market.

It’s the kind of upgrade you don’t know you want until you’ve used a phone with built-in technology, but it’s something that would make a noticeable difference to the iPhone experience.

7. A better option for chargers

The Lightning connector on the iPhone 12 Pro Max
The Lightning connector on the iPhone 12 Pro Max

The iPhone 12 was the time when Apple decided to leave chargers in the box. According to Apple, that’s an initiative it believes will save e-waste, and while that may be true, it’s not the most user-friendly way of doing it.

We would like the company to find an alternative way to offer chargers to those who want them, without including them in the box by default.

Maybe every iPhone could come with a charger coupon that you can charge if you need a charger, but we highly recommend that you do so if you already have a way to charge your phone.
