A Magnetic Stripe Reader is a data capture device that reads information from cards or badges through exposure to a magnetic stripe. The idea for a magnetic stripe card came to mind from Forrest Parry, an IBM engineer who glued a strip of magnetic tape to a piece of cardboard in 1969.
