It didn’t take long for fans to theorize about the potentially big development of everyone’s favorite monstrous couple, Deckerstar.

Now writer Chris Rafferty has spoken about making a huge difference to Chloe (Lauren German), saying, “I’m so glad you enjoyed this development. I love it, because I love the story. He loves change.”

“Honestly, I can’t remember when we decided to let Chloe leave the army. As we were breaking into these episodes in the writers’ room, remember: We thought season five was the end of the show. So we can entertain ideas for making big changes and not worry about the impact on future seasons.”

Regarding how that happened in the sixth and final season, Rafferty joked, “Fortunately, you can’t get the detective out of Chloe, and we had no trouble finding narrative motivation for the stories in our final season.

“If anything, it’s inspired us to be more creative than ever. Our ‘cases’ will be more personal than ever, allowing us to really focus on our main characters as we get to the end.”

At first, Henderson and Modrovic almost turned down the sixth season. Speaking to EW, he revealed that he had already planned the end of the series.

“It was very similar when we went from 10 episodes to 16,” Henderson said. “[We were] like, ‘No, that’s perfect. If we do this, it will destroy everything! Then three days later, she says, “Wait, how can we not do this?”
