Expect lots of spoilers for Spider-Man for From Home and Wandavision if you haven’t seen them yet. If you are not yet familiar with the latest MCU offerings, read this at your own risk.
spider-man: no way home release date
Spider-Man: No Way Home will be released on December 17, 2021, assuming there are no production delays and the theaters open then. This will be the last release in a permanent set to be a jam-packed year for MCU films with Black Widow, The Eternal, and Shang-Chi and The Legend of the Ten Rings, which are scheduled to be a screen hit before that. Of course, it is believed that the world of cinema is not further affected by Kovid-related delays – which are difficult to predict right now.
Spider-Man: No Way Home cast details and rumors
Right now, we certainly know only a few details about the casting of the film. Tom Holland will return as Peter Parker, Jacob Batalon will return as Peter’s friend Ned, and Zendaya will return as MJ – the trio seen in the first picture of No Way Home (see above). You will also see Marisa Tomei playing the character of Auntie May again.
In addition, Tony Revolori is expected to reprise his role as Flash Thompson.
Also, we are in the rumor and leaks area. The MCU and several characters from previous Spider-Man projects are set to make a comeback, which is why the anticipation for Spider-Man: No Way Home is so high.
One report suggested that Benedict Cumberbatch would reprise his role as Doctor Strange in the upcoming film – and on Disney’s Investor Day in 2020, Marvel’s Kevin Feige confirmed that Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness was the third spider. -Man will join the film. .
We also know that Jamie Foxx will return as The Villain Electro from The Amazing Spider-Man 2 in Spider-Man: No Way Home, thanks to the post-deleted Instagram post. The Hollywood Reporter says that Alfred Molina will also return as a version of the villain Otto Octavius (who he played in Spider-Man 2). Later, in an interview with Variety, Molina kept her involvement “the worst kept secret in Hollywood.”
How will these villains end in Peter Parker’s reality? or vice versa? That is the big secret we are waiting to unpack.
Casting rumors go beyond the old Spider-Man villains, however, a Collider report suggested that previous Spider-Man actors Toby Maguire and Andrew Garfield would play some role in the film, which is some sort of multiversal team-up – Spider- Vers in live- action, perhaps. These claims have since been rejected by Tom Holland, but more recent reports could mean that Toby Maguire will eventually make an appearance.
Finally, for now, we’ve seen rumors that Charlie Cox will be reprising his role as Daredevil from the eponymous Netflix series. Murphy’s Multiverse’s original reporting has been confirmed by ComicBook.com, stating that he was clearly seen on the film’s set. We’ll have to wait and watch with that, though a February 2021 casting call suggested that a court room scene was being filmed.
It is unclear what the prescribing status of the Daredevil TV show is at the moment, although we would not be against watching parts of the series salvaged for the MCU.
Spider-Man: No Way Home Story Details (and Rumors)
There is currently no official plot for Spider-Man: No Way Home, so all of the information below is an educated guess based on what is already there.
The third Spider-Man film will almost certainly deal with the consequences of the end of Spider-Man: Far From Home, where Spidey was originally accused by Mysterio of being a drone-controlled terrorist, and J. Jonah Jameson made an appearance to reveal the superhero. Secret identity as Peter Parker. Right now, we can only speculate on how this will go on-screen, but the impact on Peter’s life is likely to be at the center of the film’s plot.
After Peter revealed his identity in the Marvel Comics’ Civil War series, powerful magic was used to make everyone forget – so speculation is rampant that Doctor Strange would help him get out of his public identity status in the MCU We can do something similar. We’ll have to wait and see that, but at least it’s confirmed that there is a connection between No Way Home and the second Doctor Strange film.
Also, a rumor of several Spidey villains entering the picture likely sets the film up for a Sinister Six scenario – basically a team of enemies to give Peter an extra hard time. Adrian Toms’ vulture matters a lot if we assume that Electro and Doctor make the cut, and Mysterio too if he managed to fake his death and survive away from home. He’s four – the Scorpion, aka Mac Gargan (played by Michael Mando), already exists in the MCU, minus his alter ego. He is five.
We’ve featured Michael Keaton in the trailer for the non-MCU Spider-Man spin-off film Morbius – could Jared Leto’s character be the sixth? Or could it be someone else? Again, this is all just speculation, but based on what we’ve heard about the casting so far, a team of villains we find admirable. Sony has also been trying to get Sinister Six on the big screen for a long time, Drew Goddard once signed up to direct a film focused on characters.
Meanwhile, the title ‘No Way Home’ presumably refers to Peter living a life on the move, now unable to secure his friends or family that his identity has been revealed.
What do we want to see from Spider-Man: No Way Home?
Here’s our wish list for the third Spider-Man MCU movie.
balancing the baddies
If you have read through our breakdown of everything we know about Spider-Man: No Way Home and everything that has been leaked, you might get a flashback. Spider-Man 3, directed by Sam Raimi since 2007, was known for featuring a similarly packed cast of characters, particularly on the villain side, to fans and critics’ dislike. The Amazing Spider-Man 2 faced the same problem years later.
We hope this Spider-Man film learns from those past mistakes, and succeeds in engaging many of its enemies without losing the thread of the story.
Into the Spider-Vers is one of the best superhero films ever made, and it won an Oscar for Best Animated Movie in 2019. It seems that Sony would like to have its various Spider-Men in that animated universe at some point, and it would be nice if No Way could connect the dots in the latter order of the home credits. Imagine No Way Home ended with an animated Tom Holland teaming up with Miles Morales …
Daredevil again joins MCU
Marvel Studios, along with Daredevil, has two options: keep the Netflix version of Charlie Cox as a character, or wait a while and recreate it. Our priority is to have Cox – the film does not need to trace their belongings from the Netflix show, but just keeping them in the MCU would be a good love letter for fans of that series.
