I had recently decided to resign from my position as captain of the Indian T20 team to manage my workload, which has been too much for the past several years.

As Kohli said: “I wanted to be ready to fulfill the responsibilities that were given to me. I felt that I wanted to recover, regroup, and be clear in my thoughts on how I wanted to move forward in order to fulfill these responsibilities.

“At the same time there is a big auction next year and RCB will go through a transition period,” he said.

Kohli has also made it clear that he will continue to play for Bangalore. He said: ‘I made it clear to the management that I couldn’t even think of playing for any other team than RCB. I will continue to play in RCB until my last IPL match.
