Writing high-quality content and promoting it well is an excellent strategy to increase your website’s search traffic, Seo especially for periods of 6 to 12 months or more. However, we at DelightChat wanted to make some bold attempts to see results faster. Programmatic SEO how you can create 300 landing pages in a week for SEO.

Through extensive keyword research, Programmatic SEO we discovered a treasure trove of more than 300 long-tailed keywords related to the phrase “Best Shoppe Apps” that we believed would be Delightchat’s target audience – ecommerce store owners who use the Shopify platform Doing – Looking for.

Programmatic SEO: create 300 landing pages in a week

The usual way to complete these keywords would be to collect data, write the content of each landing page, and publish all 300-plus pages over several months. However, we wanted to move fast and find a way to execute this project in 1 week. We designed a way to leverage our engineering capabilities to crawl the Internet for raw data, which we could manually classify and rewrite wherever needed.

This methodology is called programmatic SEO, and that companies such as Tripdiviser, Thomas Cook, Nomad List and others generate thousands of landing pages targeting long-tail keywords. If you want to get more information, here is a detailed study of marketing examples.

Final result? Take a look at the Best Shopify Apps project home page, which contains all 324 landing pages that we created in this project.

Why we chose Webflow for this project
The DelightChat website is operated by Webflow. While our first idea was to create this programmatic SEO project using code, we decided to dig deeper and find a way to use webflow.

There were many benefits to continuing to use webflow, but the following stood out to me:

A consistent design and experience for website visitors
Our marketing team’s ability to change the design of project pages without the help of an engineering team
As it turns out, Webflow has a powerful CMS API and extensive documentation that is easy to navigate. Our requirements were:

Create new CMS collection items with a defined slug
Add different content such as text fields, rich text and images to each item
Use the multi-reference feature to add two different CMS collections (for reasons described in the next section)
After a quick read through, we knew that we could execute the project flawlessly using webflow.

Correctly creating CMS collections to suit our project
Before we could send data to webflow, we first had to create the correct CMS collection structure for our project.

Our project Programmatic SEO had two major components:

  1. Personal Shopify applications and their related data – “Apps”
  2. Landing pages that contain one or more Shopify apps – “Best Shopify Apps”

Information about each app and a collection of landing pages proved cumbersome.

Thankfully Webflow’s CMS has an item called Multi-Reference Area, which allows you to quickly reference items from a different CMS collection and display all your data within the original collection.

The first collection, called Apps, holds all the data for individual Shopify apps. The second collection, called Best Shopify Apps, has a list containing multiple Shopiz apps by referring to the app collection.

Create pages using the Webflow CMS API

Reading through the CMS API documentation was easy and straightforward. The code that we used in our project is not much different from the example code snippets on the documentation page. This is because we have copy-pasted the example code of the webflow and modified it only where necessary. Easy, isn’t it?

Create a new CMS collection item

We used the code snippets mentioned in the API documentation page of Webflow, slightly modified the code and started creating new collection items in no time.

The same API call was used to populate all the collection fields in each item, and we could send all types of data, such as a number in the average-rating field or text in the brief description field. Uploading an image is as simple as providing an image URL in the app-image field.

It was important for us to define the slug for each URL, which we can do using the slug field in the API.

Add a multi-reference item to each collection item

As stated earlier, our project had two major components. We need to link 2 using the multi-reference region in the Best Shopify Apps collection objects.

This was very easy to do with the API. To add a reference, all we needed was the unique item ID of the Apps collection item.

Our engineering team noted that Webflow’s use of the CMS API was fast and easy. Extensive documentation made it easy to get started. We can upload 8 CMS archive items per second, meaning that theoretically 4,800 pages can be generated in 10 minutes.

Creating Landing Pages in Webflow Editor

Once we had all the data in the right place, creating the landing page design was the easiest step in the process.

The Webflow Marketplace has dozens of high-quality templates as well as great tutorials on how to build stunning websites using Webflow. So we did not go deep on the actual designing part.

However, we will show you how easy it was to get all the necessary data on the page, even the data from the linked item in the multi-reference area.

First, we went for a simple design that made the Best Shopify Apps landing pages look like blog posts. It was easy to fill the page with data from the collection fields. All we had to do was select the collection area.

It was then equally straightforward to obtain data from multi-context field linked apps which, in our case, would have acquired all the data we needed about the individual app. This is so easy!

Since the primary purpose of our project was to rank on Google search, it was necessary to set a meta title and meta description for each page that matched the user’s search intent.

Webflow makes this extremely easy by allowing you to reference CMS collection fields in metadata. This means that each landing page had a unique meta title and description. Baazing!

A CMS that supports programmatic SEO

Our experience with webflow has been unprecedented. Without the CMS API, we would not be able to grow more than 300 pages in just 1 week. As you already know, webflow pages are fast and SEO-optimized. This enabled us to get 6,000 daily search impressions in just 6 weeks.

If you plan to take advantage of programmatic SEO and step up your organic development efforts, Webflow’s CMS is a compelling option.
