A Magnetic Stripe Reader is a data capture device that reads information from cards or badges through exposure to a magnetic stripe. The idea for a magnetic stripe card came to mind from Forrest Parry, an IBM engineer who glued a strip of magnetic tape to a piece of cardboard in 1969. On 24 February 1971, IBM officially announced the IBM 2730-1 Transaction Validation Terminal and the first magnetic credit card service center.

What is MSR Reader?

A magnetic stripe reader, also called a magstripe reader, is a hardware device that reads the information encoded in the magnetic stripe located on the back of a plastic badge… The writing process, called flux reversal, causes a change in the magnetic field that can be detected by the magnetic stripe reader.

How to find MSR?

To find the MSR, open your map and highlight the Montuyoc region. Place a way point at the far west side of the region, grab a car, and start driving. If you stay on the road, most enemy factions will leave you be, even though the Montuyoc security rating is five skulls.

What is MSR605X?

The MSR605X series is designed to read and/or write high or low coercivity magnetic cards. It can encode and verify up to 3 tracks of data simultaneously. It communicates with a host computer or other terminal using a usb interface.

The Prolific PL2303 Serial-to-USB Driver is used to interface the MSR605 Card Readers with Windows. MSR605X should be clearly identified on the device; this device is available in two versions: USB Standalone and an older version that requires a power adapter.

The MSR605 is intended to supplement an existing system by providing a high and/or low coercivity card reading and writing solution. The MSR605 series is designed to read and/or write high or low coercivity magnetic cards. It has the ability to encrypt and verify up to three data tracks at once. It communicates with a host computer or other terminal through a USB interface.
